Czech sanatoriums

Natural resources are used for treatment – thermal mineral water, peat bogs and local mountain or sub-mountain climate. Thermal mineral waters of balneotherapy have excellent therapeutic effects.

It also uses paraffin, gas injections and kiezinotaping (the use of resin glue elastic strips, which significantly improve the range of movement, reduce pain and swelling).

The basis of each treatment in all rehabilitation institutes is individual exercise with a physiotherapist according to the recommendations of physicians, experts and consuls, taking into account the current state of health of the patient.

The complex certified methods are used :

Vojta methods – Reflex locomotion, usually referred to as the Vojta method, is the technique for the treatment of physical and mental impairment in humans. It was discovered by Václav Vojta. Based on studies of treatments for spastic children for muscular disorders in the 1950s, a number of reflex points were identified which can be used to stimulate the human body to crawl and turn. By applying pressure to the appropriate reflex points the major muscle groups in the body are activated, breathing becomes regulated and mental activity increases.

Kabats Methods PNF – Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) is an effective way of using reflexes to assist muscular relaxation.  Stretching using these principles is only one part of a system used by physical therapists to help muscular strengthening, stability, neuromuscular control, as well as mobility and coordination.

The Bobath concept is an approach to neurological rehabilitation that is applied in patient assessment and treatment (such as with adults after stroke,or children with cerebral palsy). The goal of applying the Bobath concept is to promote motor learning for efficient motor control in various environments, thereby improving participation and function. This is done through specific patient handling skills to guide patients through initiation and completion of intended tasks. This approach to neurological rehabilitation is multidisciplinary, primarily involving physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists. In the United States, the Bobath concept is also known as ‘neuro-developmental treatment’ (NDT)

Program by Capova -Physiotherapeutic concept according to the Capova is a therapeutic concept that relies on developmental aspects, which means that it offers solutions based on established patterns in postural ontogenesis. These are issues of central management. Primarily the verticizing process of postural ontogenesis includes small coordination units, the so-called basal postural programs (BPP). It appears that these basal postural programs have a significant facilitating effect in reeducation of motor functions in patients with various diagnoses, and especially in patients with spinal lesions.

Systém SM Dr.Smisek  – The “SM System” or “Stabilization and Mobilization System” method is based on 39 years of progressive development and 34 years of clinical experience with this exercise in patients with back pain in the lumbar, thoracic and cervical areas, in patients with acute platelet and scoliosis.

Method McKenzie – The Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) is an internationally acclaimed method of assessment and treatment for spinal and extremity pain developed by New Zealand Physiotherapist Robin McKenzie. It has been widely used all over the world for more than 30 years.MDT clinicians are trained to assess and diagnose all areas of the musculoskeletal system. That means that if a problem exists in or around the spine, joint or muscle, an MDT evaluation may be appropriate. MDT is a philosophy of active patient involvement and education that is trusted and used by clinicians and patients all over the world for back, neck and extremity problems. This approach continues to be one of the most researched physical therapy based methods available

These methods are complemented by specifically focused group exercises and physical therapy such as electrotherapy including stimulation, magnetotherapy and phototherapy (laser, biolamp).

Great emphasis is placed on ergotherapy with practice of day-to-day activities and logopedic care.
